Almost all of us have either experienced being fired or will experience this awful feeling.
It’s gut wrenching. When you hear, those words, its almost as if your whole world is coming crashing down.
How are you going to tell your family?
How are you going to pay your bills?
However there are few things to remember when you are in that meeting going through the awful experience.
It may or may not be your fault. But whatever you do, don’t argue. I get it, you want to defend yourself, good or bad. However you aren’t going to change their mind. It’s a done deal.
You will get through this. If it is your fault, remember to introspect. To figure out what you could have done differently.
Take the day/week/weekend to recharge and figure out what you are going to do next.
Whatever the situation, remember that with the right type of resources you will get through this. This isn’t the 20s or the 08 recession. This is a minor set back. Learn from it and move forward.
Create a list of your skill-set. Figure out what company you are going to apply. Update your resume.
REACH OUT TO YOUR NETWORK. Your network of people are the most powerful resource you have.
This isn’t the end all be all. You will recover. You just have to take the right steps.
