05 May Lessons from Infinity War
Like any Marvel fan, I went to watch the latest movie – Infinity War last night. It wasn’t the first day, first show, but the theatres were packed. When I purchased the tickets almost a month ago, the tickets were selling faster than anything I have seen.
If you haven’t seen the latest movie, go watch the movie and you will know what I am talking about. Because some of these could be considered spoilers. After watching the movie, some things stood out as lessons for the business world. Lessons for recruiting and leadership. Both good and bad, I am going to break them down. This might be a two-part article.
Thanos using the gauntlet to block Loki’s attack – This one is about using your resources. Yes, Thanos didn’t really need the gauntlet to block Loki’s attack. Even if Loki succeeded in his attack, there would only be a scratch on Thanos, but Thanos used the most powerful resource he had to block it and then kill Loki.
Tony Stark contemplating whether or not to call Steve Rogers – When you are a leader, your personal issues shouldn’t really come in the middle of what’s good for the team. Banner tells Tony something like, ‘I don’t care if you aren’t speaking, you need to call him.’
Captain coming to Vision’s rescue and saving him. As a leader, you can’t hold personal grudges. You have to do what’s best for your team. Vision needed saving and Cap didn’t abandon him. When your team member is struggling, you don’t just abandon them and fire them. You help them as much as you can, especially if the team member is trying. You work with them to figure out what you can do to help them succeed.
